From preserving Uganda’s rich biodiversity to nurturing wildlife and embracing sustainable agriculture, we invite you to explore a harmonious way of life deeply rooted in the land.
While we recognize that the story is only starting to be told and more will be discovered with time, we invite you to join us to learn, enjoy, and share farming experiences. We take exceptional pride in excelling where others have failed through innovation and environmentally friendly farming systems and methods.
At Suubi
Our farming practices are deliberately designed to promote environmental conservation at all levels..
Suubi – DHO Model Farm, is a continuation of our father’s legacy. Our father, Mzee Daniel Hadondi Oduho, did not have the benefit of formal education but used this land to set himself apart as a man of means. From this land, he operated multiple farming enterprises which enabled him to adequately provide for his family of more than fifty members including his wives, children, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. Mzee Daniel lived to a ripe age of more than 100 years and made it abundantly clear before his demise that we only had the right to use it for farming but never to sell it. In his memory, we continue to use this land as he willed/wished.
Our unique approaches have enabled us to do the unimaginable on a rather small piece of land. On the crop side,
What do we grow?
Crops include:
Coffee, avocado, bananas, soursop (ebitoferi/ebitopatope), and seasonal crops such as soybeans, maize, beans, tomatoes, cabbage, watermelons, eggplants, green peppers, puffballs, and passion fruits.
Animal husbandry includes:
Poultry, cattle, goats, rabbitry, aquaculture, pasture management, and apiary.
